Winter Church + Rudding Park Wedding Photography

Julia + Matty got married in December and held a small celebration with 15 of their nearest and dearest, and me. They got married at All Hallows Church in Leeds and then held an intimate reception at Rudding Park.

The wedding was on the afternoon of one of the shortest days in the year and Jules and Matty got married as the sun set on a cold and blustery December day in the run up to Christmas. I met with the groom and the arriving guests at the church and we sheltered in the warmth of the church while awaiting Julia’s arrival. The church was beautifully lit for an intimate winter wedding, and all though this meant not a lot of light for the photographer, there was just enough to work with when I looked in the right places.

The couple booked me for 3 hours to document the most important parts of the wedding day for them which is essentially the ceremony and the people in attendance, so after the ceremony I headed up to Rudding Park with the everyone and stayed with them until they sat down for their meal. During periods like this when I am a large percentage of the people in attendance, I find its easier for me to get better photo’s when I’m accepted as part of the group, which means pulling up a chair and listening to the stories and sharing the laughs, and by doing so am able to capture more intimate moments than if I was hiding across the room.

I received this message from the couple when they returned from Honeymoon:

“Thanks so much for the photos – you already know I have been sharing them on instagram 🙂

We absolutely love them and they are exactly what we were looking for, natural in the moment shots – we are very happy.

Thanks so much Love Jules & Matty”
